Calling it Now: We’re Getting Another Kelce Bowl This Year

Updated: Oct 25, 2023

Jason and Travis Kelce embrace each other at midfield after Super Bowl LVII.

If we could know what’s going to happen in the future, we would all be very rich individuals. Unfortunately, that’s not the case which leaves us to only make predictions as to what will happen, and as sure as I am that the New York Football Giants are going to continue to break my heart for the rest of the season, I am positive we will be getting rematch of the Eagles vs. Chiefs in the Superbowl, otherwise famously known as the Kelce Bowl.

This is not an incredibly hot take, considering that after the conclusion of week 7, both teams sit at the top of their conferences with a 6-1 record. Anything can happen, but a betting man has to have learned by now that Patrick Mahomes is very difficult to beat in a football game, especially in the playoffs. Since Mahomes has been under center for the Chiefs only two Quarterbacks have been able to beat Mahomes in the playoffs, one being Tom Brady who has finally decided to call it a career once and for all, and the other being Joe Burrow whose team has struggled so far this season and currently does not hold a spot in the playoffs. As for Hurts and the Eagles, an unstoppable brotherly shove and impressive defensive play continue to win football games, their most recent being over the Dolphins who have been the most impressive offense in the league up to this point in the season. Both teams have some difficult regular season matchups throughout the remainder of the season but there should be absolutely zero concern about either of these teams missing the playoffs.

Mahomes’ past playoff performance speaks for itself, and apart from the 49ers and Cowboys, the NFC is rather weak. The Cowboys are divisional rivals who we will get to see face off twice later on in the season which will help to determine how these teams match up against one another this year, and Dak Prescott hasn’t proven to be a guy that can get his team to the promised land. The 49ers are without a doubt the biggest threat, but two losses in a row to the Browns and Vikings have me less convinced they have what it takes to beat the veteran Eagles who have superior talent all over both sides of the ball. This is another matchup we won’t have to wait to see in the playoffs because they will battle it out in week 13. All of that aside, let’s talk superstition.

If there were to be any sort of NFL script that has these games rigged, it would absolutely be in favor of a Kelce Bowl rematch. Travis Kelce now finds himself dating the biggest popstar on the planet in Taylor Swift, which is news that has quite literally taken over the country and changed the way the NFL markets itself. On top of that, following the premiere of the Kelce documentary, Jason Kelce was #1 in female jerseys sold in the country and is now widely known for how great of a man he is off the field. His baby daughters are famous on social media and his wife Kylie, has also become a fan favorite. Anyone who already was a fan of football already knew the Kelce brothers and knew how great they have been in their careers, but now anyone who wasn’t a fan of football at least knows Travis and Jason. How could I forget the part where Taylor Swift just so happens to be an Eagles fan, so to have to watch her boyfriend play against her favorite team is quite the narrative for an NFL script that would help attract the most viewers possible and generate more revenue than ever before. Taylor Swift aside, football fans already know how great Mama Kelce was under the spotlight last year for this matchup which ended up being one of the best games we’ve seen.

Does the Patrick Mahomes Dynasty continue? Or does older brother Jason get his chance to win another ring and happily retire to his widely beloved family? In the wise words of Michael Scott from the office “I’m not superstitious, but I am a little stitious”, that being said, the stars seem to be aligned for this matchup. The top two teams at the halfway point also happen to have the best matchup narrative, so if you’re a gambler like myself, get on the books and absolutely hammer it. Chiefs vs. Eagles, it's happening again, I'm calling it now.
